As the Director of Academic Support and Learning Specialist, Karin E. Christiaens collaborates with students, faculty, and staff at NYCPM to support the learning outcomes of future DPMs. Her approach is evidence-based, learner-centered, and inclusive. Karin’s main role at NYCPM is to develop and facilitate educational programs and resources that drive academic growth and success; provide student consulting services with an emphasis on time management, study, and test-taking skills; and advance faculty development by assisting with curriculum and syllabus review, teaching strategies and tools, and assessments.

Karin is an educator, researcher, and archaeologist. She brings over a decade of experience in higher education from her years working for Columbia’s Center for Teaching and Learning; consulting for various writing centers; and teaching in her own classroom, as well as on-site in Greece and Italy. Outside of NYCPM, she offers freelance consulting and works with MSW and PhD students at the Columbia School of Social Work’s Writing Center.
